Wind: 20 Knots (We would not have gone out but we were dealing with some die hard divers and as it turns out we were meant to be hero's today)
Hello Pleasure Bloggers,
We awoke this morning knowing that something in the air was different. Today was an important day. Our divers Tony, Steve and Rob were headed out for a full day of diving and there was no two ways about it. The seas were big, the wind was howling and the Dramamine was pulsing through their veins. We ventured out to the Bibb Wreck first. As it turns out it was a beautiful day at about 100ft underwater! We had a great dive, covering the whole ship and taking I the amazing clear vista that is the Bibb. We pulled the hook and tied up to the Duane which we shared only with a small, 20ft fishing boat. As we arrived I quietly cursed the fishermen for being on "my" wreck. I'll get over it but I sure wish they wouldn't fish while we were diving. Rob hopped in with the divers to take some pictures and I was left alone on board to fill some tanks and watch bubbles. Out of the corner of my eye I see International Orange, the unforgettable color of Jim Buoy Life vests! The fishing boat has capsized and the three fishermen on board are swimming for their lives toward Pleasure Diver! I throw a lifeline to help them to safety and pull them one by one onto the swim step. Everyone is OK which is amazing and I am very glad for that. After a long Spanglish conversation we get Tow Boat US out to give them a hand. Another day aboard Pleasure Diver, another brave rescue. In the end Tony was the hero for making us all finish out the rest of the day while fighting through the barfing and rouge waves to complete our four dive day. We are all stronger because of you, Tony. Steve and Rob both get medals of honor for being right there with the rest of us in pushing through the day.
Tomorrow is another day and the forecast looks bright. Maybe we can save some more lives?
