Air/Water Temp: 75/75
Wind: 15 Knots

Hello Pleasure Divers,

Today we took Ted and Susan out for a private morning on the Spiegel Grove. They got two back-to-back dives in and they had the wreck to themselves! The visibility was great and there wasn't any current. A lucky and beautiful diving day on the Grove.

Thanks for joining us and we hope to see you again soon. Happy Holidays!

December 21st, 2008 The Grabowski Family & Rob's Family Day

Air/Water Temp: 78/75
Wind: 5 Knots (A beautiful Winter day!)

Back again for another great diving day,

We were joined today by the Grabowski Family along with Rob's nephew, Chris and our friend, Instructor Brent. Chris is doing his Discover Scuba Course and The Grabowski Family are out for a fun day of diving. We decided on Molasses Reef today because it was so gorgeous out and we didn't have to hide from any weather. We saw some great wildlife today, with lots of schooling Snappers and Grunts. With the sun out the colors were out in force, especially the fan corals.

Check out http://picasaweb.google.com/thepleasurediver/December21st2008?feat=directlink for more pictures from your dive adventure!

Thanks to everyone for a great day and congrats to Chris for giving Scuba a try!

Air/Water Temp: 75/75
Wind: 10 Knots

Hi Divers,

We had a great half day charter with the Drake Family from California. Collin, Mark, Lauren, Nancy, and Gavin joined us for a dives on the Duane and on Molasses Reef. The Duane had some good current cooking today so we started at the bow and kicked into the current checking out some big Barracuda on the way. Once we made it to the stern we took a quick ride with the flowing water back to the bow. It was an adventure dive, that's for sure! We then headed in to Molasses Reef for a nice easy dive. We spotted some great critters too! We saw a Nurse Shark, a Grey Reef Shark, two Turtles and a Partridge in a Pear Tree!

Thanks to the Drake Family for a fun day on and in the water. We hope too see you again soon!

Hi!!!! We actually had some fair weather and some willing divers so we went out for some great wreck diving for three days in a row!

Our new friends from up in Ft. Lauderdale joined us for a tour of our local wrecks. Mike, Liza and Blake got some awesome private dives on the Spiegel Grove, Duane and Bibb Wrecks. Thanks for diving with us guys. You are all welcome back anytime, brings friends! Check out....

It is much cooler this time of year but the diving is still great. We are diving in full suits now. Maybe a 3mm or and 5mm should do. A hood helps a ton as well.

We are staring to fill up around the Christmas holiday so give us a call if you want to do some diving over the holidays. We would love to have you!

Thanks and Happy Diving!

November 15th, 2008 All Day on the Water!

Air/Water Temp: 78/79
Wind: 5-10 Knots
Hello divers,

We had another full day on the water but this time it was gorgeous! No boat rescues today but we can only handle those every once in a while. We were joined by our friends Rob, Tony and Steve again and we added our friends Boyd and Brian into the mix. The wind has finally quit and the sun is out, now that is what we want! We decided to spend the morning on the Spiegel Grove. Brian made his first deep dives there which is quite a memory to add to the books. We had two great dives there. We saw Mr. Big the Goliath Grouper hanging around the bow in his usual spot and swam through some passageways on the ship. We had a nice lunch while we motored over to the Benwood Wreck. We had a fun dive there, we saw some big Groupers out hunting and some huge schools of Snappers and Grunts. For our Grand Finale we tied up at the South end of French Reef which is a our best spot for swim-throughs. There was a nurse Shark sighting and a huge Green Moray Eel that looked kinda hungry!

These are the days that we hope for everyday. Thanks to everyone for a great diving day!

November 14th, 2008 Big Seas, Barfing & Boat Rescues!!!

Air/Water Temp: 78/79 Brrrr

Wind: 20 Knots (We would not have gone out but we were dealing with some die hard divers and as it turns out we were meant to be hero's today)
Hello Pleasure Bloggers,

We awoke this morning knowing that something in the air was different. Today was an important day. Our divers Tony, Steve and Rob were headed out for a full day of diving and there was no two ways about it. The seas were big, the wind was howling and the Dramamine was pulsing through their veins. We ventured out to the Bibb Wreck first. As it turns out it was a beautiful day at about 100ft underwater! We had a great dive, covering the whole ship and taking I the amazing clear vista that is the Bibb. We pulled the hook and tied up to the Duane which we shared only with a small, 20ft fishing boat. As we arrived I quietly cursed the fishermen for being on "my" wreck. I'll get over it but I sure wish they wouldn't fish while we were diving. Rob hopped in with the divers to take some pictures and I was left alone on board to fill some tanks and watch bubbles. Out of the corner of my eye I see International Orange, the unforgettable color of Jim Buoy Life vests! The fishing boat has capsized and the three fishermen on board are swimming for their lives toward Pleasure Diver! I throw a lifeline to help them to safety and pull them one by one onto the swim step. Everyone is OK which is amazing and I am very glad for that. After a long Spanglish conversation we get Tow Boat US out to give them a hand. Another day aboard Pleasure Diver, another brave rescue. In the end Tony was the hero for making us all finish out the rest of the day while fighting through the barfing and rouge waves to complete our four dive day. We are all stronger because of you, Tony. Steve and Rob both get medals of honor for being right there with the rest of us in pushing through the day.

Tomorrow is another day and the forecast looks bright. Maybe we can save some more lives?
Check out http://picasaweb.google.com/thepleasurediver/ADayToRemember# for more pictures from your fabulous day!

Thanks gentlemen, we will see you bright and early......try skipping the Waffle House this time!

Air/Water Temp: 78/79
Wind: 10-15 Knots
Dear Pleasure Divers,

We are trying not to let this go to our heads but we had some great cameramen, Dennis and Ed, on board over the past few days doing some underwater filming for CBS! They are putting together some footage for an upcoming pilot for a reality TV show. Just what we need, another Reality Show, right!? They brought a TON of stuff but that is what it takes to get the really fancy shots I guess.

We hope that we helped out in getting the footage they need to get a successful show going!

Air/Water Temp: 79/80 (Our computer says 80 but we don't believe it!)
Wind: 5-10 Knots

Hello again friends,

Today we were joined by two ex-Aggressor employees, which basically makes us related. We headed out on a beautiful Tuesday to do a Double Dip on the Spiegel Grove. The conditions were great and the best part is that we had the whole place to ourselves for the day! Awesome! Christopher and Suzanne joined us for the trip. Chris was after some great photographs to add to his already amazing collection. Check out http://www.aquaexposure.com/ for a look at his inspiring shots.

Wind: 10 Knots

Hi there Pleasure Divers,

The wind finally let up a little and we headed out for some snorkeling and diving on the Benwood and French Reef. We were joined by Laura, Billy, Chris and Jack. It turned out to be a gorgeous day and we had the Ben wood Wreck all to ourselves. We found a cleverly disguised Scorpionfish, some large Spadefish and some great schools of Goatfish. French Reef was nice and clear today so Laura could easily see the reef from the surface where she poked her head in. The divers explored some great swim-throughs, found a Nurse Shark resting under a ledge and a large school of Trevalys with a Nassau Grouper swimming among them.

All in all a great day with some sunshine and calm seas.

Thanks to everyone and come join us again soon! Check out the link below for all the pictures from your charter.

Wind: 15-20 Knots

Hello Pleasure Bloggers,

We headed out to the reef today to get some much needed diving in. Max, Sasha, Arkadiy and Yuliya came along with us for the ride. The weather has not been cooperating with us at all this year but we went out to give it a try anyways. We made our first stop at Molasses Reef. The divers got a great critter show right off the bat. There were Spotted Eagle Rays, a Green Sea Turtle, a Nurse Shark, a Green Moray and tons of big Barracuda. It was quit the way to start the day. The wind picked up a little so we headed down to Pickles Reef to check things out there. We dove on Snapper Ledge where the group saw more Nurse Sharks and ton of schooling Yellow Snappers. Max finished up the day with two quick dives to fill up all the space on his memory card.

Air/Water Temp: 81/81
Wind: 15-20 Knots

Hi there divers!

We took five divers out to Molasses Reef today to see the fish and check the water temp. Joe, Guy, Jay, Adrienne and Alex came along to get their first taste of Key Largo diving. We decided that Molasses Reef would be the best intro to the Keys so off we went. We started at Permit Ledge where we found Junior the Goliath Grouper out getting some exercise and some huge Spadefish hanging in a cave nearby. We also spotted a Green Sea Turtle headed to the surface for some air. We headed to the North end of the reef for dive two and spotted a large Nurse Shark and a Spotted Moray Eel. It was a great day for critters out there!

Air/Water Temp: 80/81
Wind: 10-15 Knots (Calming Down!)
Well divers the guys from yesterday are back for more! We mush be doing something right?!

Our friends Tom and Bruce got two dives in this morning. One on the Benwood Wreck and another on French Reef. We saw some big Groupers hunting on the Benwood and a really well hidden Scorpionfish. We spotted the usual on French, big Midnight Parrotfish, a few big Dog Snapper and the ever present Grunt!

Our afternoon group had a new member today, Dave who spotted us a we were leaving the dock and hopped aboard. We headed out to the Spiegel Grove on this lovely afternoon to see what we could see. The current was minimal and we had about 40-50ft of visibility. The guys spotted the resident Goliath Grouper and we saw a giant Dog Snapper with Fangs! We then cruised in to French Reef where the group did a nice shallow dive and took in all of the beautiful scenery before they had to head home to the real world.

Thanks to all our divers over the past few days! We had a blast!

October 17th, 2008 All Day Dives!

Air/Water Temp: 80/82
Wind: 15-20 Knots (Blowy!)

Well friends we are so happy to get off the dock and go diving!

We have a full day of diving planned with two groups of gentlemen. First off Bruce and Tom joined us for a few dives on Molasses. We only got one dive in but it was awesome! We saw a huge Nurse Shark, two Spotted Eagle Rays, Two Goliath Groupers and tons of schooling Spadefish. It was great but the wind really kicked up the chop and we headed in after one great dive.

For the afternoon we welcomed Glenn, Gary, Steve, Dan and Roger for a dive on the Duane and a dive on Pickles Reef. The Duane was great, no current and awesome visibility, not a common occurrence! The divers spotted a Bull Shark at the base of the Wreck and saw some schooling Jacks. We headed over to Pickles Reef for dive #2 and saw a big Sting Ray and what the guys called a 9ft Shark! The size changed a few times throughout the day but we can settle on 9ft, right?

It was a great day back on the water and everyone we had out today is coming back tomorrow for more! Hooray!

Hi there divers,

We had a marvelous day today with our friends Weldon, Richard and Paul. The sun was up and the wind was down which is the perfect combination around here. We set out to Molasses reef and found a nice spot away from the current around the North end of the reef. The colors were great today and we could see for miles. We saw a huge Cobian swim by at warp speed and found a Knobby Anemone on a coral head. We headed over to Post Reef for a nice easy second dive where we spotted a Sting Ray trying to hide in the sand and some big Barracuda.

Anyways we found some interesting creatures including a Flamenco Tongue Snail and a furry worm called a Bearded Fireworm. We then headed to French Reef to find some swim-throughs. Hi there Pleasure Divers,

We had an amazing day out on the water! There wasn't any wind at all and we had sun all day. Today was undersea hunter day on Pleasure Diver but mostly we just wanted to dive. Tavis, Mike, Dwayne and Catherine joined us today for three dives. We started our day on the Bibb. The Duane was crowded because of how beautiful it was so we took the Bibb all to ourselves. There were some big fish down there to hunt but they seemed to have played that game before and outsmarted the hunters. There is a reason the fish have lived that long! We then headed for the shallower dives at Pickles Reef. We saw some huge Rays and a huge school of Snappers with some Nurse Sharks swimming around them. All in all it was an awesome day. We didn't spear anything but everyone was happy with the great day of diving.

What do Hurricanes and Spiderwebs have in common?

Hi friends,

I wanted to show you what it looks like here in the Marina when a storm is coming through. It's a big Spiderweb! It looks like IKE is going to pass well South of us and we are prepared to ride it out here at the Marina Del Mar. We moved over to a slip by Coconuts that is a bit safer for us and the boat and we should just see some big wind over the next 24 hours.

Once this blows through we expect to see everyone back down here for some diving. the big crowds are gone this time of year so we should have the reefs mostly to ourselves! I love that!

Well send some good vibes our way and we will see you all soon on Pleasure Diver!

August 29th, 2008 Labor Day Weekend Kickoff

Air/Water Temp: 82/86
Wind: 15-20 Knots (Choppy)

Hi all,

We had a full day today but the weather didn't cooperate! We did however make the best of what we had to work with. We set out this morning with Jenny, Bob, Megan, Jim and Kathy for some diving. The wind was howling so we headed for French Reef where we found some great diving. The visibility was amazing this morning! We started in the middle of French where we found a group of Snook in a cave, a very curious Spiny Lobster and a great cave with light streaming into it from above. We did another dive on French Reef down at the South end and did some swim throughs and swam with the Minnows which is always a treat!

For our afternoon adventure Jenny joined us along with Tammy, Xiu, Lawrence and Billie for a Snorkel/Dive trip. The wind had picked up a bit more so we headed for White Banks where we could dive and snorkel at the same site. On our adventure dive we came across some big Amberjacks, a Flamingo Tongue Snail and a group of tasty Lobsters in their hideout. It was a bit kicked up out there but we made the best of it. A bad day diving is better than a good day at work right!?

Hope to see everyone again soon! Thanks for a fun day.

August 27th, 2008 Fay has gone away!

Air/Water Temp: 84/86
Wind: 10-12 Knots

Hi Divers,

We are finally getting back into the swing of things since Fay went through. We headed out to Molasses Reef this morning to check out our fish friends. Our friends Steve and Jean joined us and also Jenny from Oregon. We made our first stop at the North end of the reef. We swam against a little current and found a huge Hawksbill Turtle hanging out in a cave. He did some nice poses for Steve's pictures! We also saw a big Midnight Parrotfish munching away at his lunch. We stopped at Post Reef for dive two. There were plenty of Conch out among the amazing Elkhorn Coral. There was a Hermit Crab living in one of the old shells too. It was so nice to get out on the water again and we are looking forward to a great Labor Day Weekend.

Kiddo did OK for his first day on the water but he still needs to get his sea legs!
