October 27th, 2008 Winter Weather!

Air/Water Temp: 75/79 (Brrrrr!)
Wind: 15-20 Knots!!

Well folks it officially feels like winter here in the Keys! We are having our first little taste of cool, crisp air. It's 65 degrees right now! We had to make a trip to the shed to find all of our winter clothes.

We did go diving today however and Irene, John, Ken and our friend Larry Gates joined us. First dive of the day was Fire Coral Cave where we saw some big Barracuda and some schooling Spadefish. Stop number 2 was at Eagle Ray Ravine where we spotted a Green Sea Turtle and some beautiful Fan Coral waving in the surge.

Thanks for heading out with us today everyone and come back soon for some more fun under the water!

October 25th, 2008 Molasses Adventure

Air/Water Temp: 81/81
Wind: 15-20 Knots

Hi there divers!

We took five divers out to Molasses Reef today to see the fish and check the water temp. Joe, Guy, Jay, Adrienne and Alex came along to get their first taste of Key Largo diving. We decided that Molasses Reef would be the best intro to the Keys so off we went. We started at Permit Ledge where we found Junior the Goliath Grouper out getting some exercise and some huge Spadefish hanging in a cave nearby. We also spotted a Green Sea Turtle headed to the surface for some air. We headed to the North end of the reef for dive two and spotted a large Nurse Shark and a Spotted Moray Eel. It was a great day for critters out there!

Thanks for joining us and come back soon for the grand tour!

October 18th, 2008 Back for more diving!

Air/Water Temp: 80/81
Wind: 10-15 Knots (Calming Down!)
Well divers the guys from yesterday are back for more! We mush be doing something right?!

Our friends Tom and Bruce got two dives in this morning. One on the Benwood Wreck and another on French Reef. We saw some big Groupers hunting on the Benwood and a really well hidden Scorpionfish. We spotted the usual on French, big Midnight Parrotfish, a few big Dog Snapper and the ever present Grunt!

Our afternoon group had a new member today, Dave who spotted us a we were leaving the dock and hopped aboard. We headed out to the Spiegel Grove on this lovely afternoon to see what we could see. The current was minimal and we had about 40-50ft of visibility. The guys spotted the resident Goliath Grouper and we saw a giant Dog Snapper with Fangs! We then cruised in to French Reef where the group did a nice shallow dive and took in all of the beautiful scenery before they had to head home to the real world.

Thanks to all our divers over the past few days! We had a blast!

October 17th, 2008 All Day Dives!

Air/Water Temp: 80/82
Wind: 15-20 Knots (Blowy!)

Well friends we are so happy to get off the dock and go diving!

We have a full day of diving planned with two groups of gentlemen. First off Bruce and Tom joined us for a few dives on Molasses. We only got one dive in but it was awesome! We saw a huge Nurse Shark, two Spotted Eagle Rays, Two Goliath Groupers and tons of schooling Spadefish. It was great but the wind really kicked up the chop and we headed in after one great dive.

For the afternoon we welcomed Glenn, Gary, Steve, Dan and Roger for a dive on the Duane and a dive on Pickles Reef. The Duane was great, no current and awesome visibility, not a common occurrence! The divers spotted a Bull Shark at the base of the Wreck and saw some schooling Jacks. We headed over to Pickles Reef for dive #2 and saw a big Sting Ray and what the guys called a 9ft Shark! The size changed a few times throughout the day but we can settle on 9ft, right?

It was a great day back on the water and everyone we had out today is coming back tomorrow for more! Hooray!

October 12th, 2008 The Wind is Back!!

Air/Water Temp: 81/83
Wind: 15-20 Knots!!! Grrrrrr....go away wind!
Well we took our Southern Gentlemen out again today but the weather didn't hold from yesterday. Oh well....we go a few nice dives in at white Banks. We chased some Lobsters and Barracudas around in the muck and made the best of it. There is a big front coming through so it looks like it may be a few days before we head out again.

Thanks guys for a great couple of days and we hope to see you again soon!

October 11th, 2008 Our Favorite Southern Gentlemen

Air/Water Temp: 82/83
Wind: 5 Knots = gorgeous day!

Hi there divers,

We had a marvelous day today with our friends Weldon, Richard and Paul. The sun was up and the wind was down which is the perfect combination around here. We set out to Molasses reef and found a nice spot away from the current around the North end of the reef. The colors were great today and we could see for miles. We saw a huge Cobian swim by at warp speed and found a Knobby Anemone on a coral head. We headed over to Post Reef for a nice easy second dive where we spotted a Sting Ray trying to hide in the sand and some big Barracuda.

It was so nice to be out today so thanks for joining us!

October 10th, 2008 Fun With Friends!

Hello Pleasure Bloggers,

Today we took out a group of Friends to the Spiegel Grove and I just wanted to share some of the pictures with you all. It was a gorgeous day and it seemed like you could see forever down on the wreck. Here is the link to the photo album. http://picasaweb.google.com/thepleasurediver/JeffFriendsDoTheSpiegelGrove

The Spiegel Grove is an Intermediate Dive with the shallowest being around 65ft and depths maxing out around 110ft. The current is usually the biggest variable but we have had good luck recently.

Hope to see you all aboard Pleasure Diver soon!

Air/Water Temp: 83/81
Wind: 15 Knots ( A Little Rocky)

Greetings Pleasure Bloggers,
We had a full boat this morning for our trip to Molasses Reef. Christine, Douglas, Horst, Amparo, Lisa and Rebecca came along for the ride and some fun on the water. We had a little bit of rough water on the surface today but we had some great dives underwater! We started with a grand tour or Fire Coral Cave and Permit Ledge and then headed to the Winch Hole for dive 2. The visibility was about 50ft and we didn't have any current. In the caves we spotted some really big Spadefish and Trumpetfish and a big Snook posed for Rob's camera. We also came across a big Green Moray and some schools of Midnight Parrotfish.
Thanks everyone for a great day!
