September 29th, 2008 Wreckstravaganza!

Air/Water Temp: 84/82
Wind: 10 Knots

Hi fellow Pleasure Divers,

We took our friends Sam, Hakan, Brent and Heather out to dive the Spiegel Grove this morning. It was a great calm, clear day and there wasn't any current at all! The group did some swim-throughs and checked out the old anti-aircraft guns on the bridge deck. You can really cover a lot of the wreck on a calm day. We headed to the Benwood Wreck for dive #2. We had the site to ourselves and enjoyed schooling Snapper and some huge Barracuda. Right at the end of the dive Brent spotted a good sized Lobster so we brought it home for an appetizer! Yumm!

Thanks to all for another great day of diving!

September 28th, 2008 Father/Son Hunting

Air/Water Temp: 81/81
Wind: 10 Knots

Hi Friends,

We took Salty aka Mike and his son Adam out this morning to try out some Spearfishing and Lobstering. We hung out at The Benwood Wreck to whole time because that is a good spot for everything. We saw two Nurse Sharks that cruised by to check us out. While we didn't bring anything back into the dock for dinner we ended up having a fun day underwater in calm seas!

Thanks and we hope to see you again soon!

September 25th, 2008 Rodeo Boating

Air/Water Temp: 82/81
Wind: 15-20 Knots (Blowy!!)

So today we learned a lesson about going out when it is to rough to be out. Sometimes it just isn't worth leaving the dock. Thank you Veronica, Michael, Beate and Don for making the attempt to dive with us today. We hope to have you back aboard Pleasure Diver in the future for some flat calm, perfect visibility, Key Largo diving!

Thanks!

September 24th, 2008 Visit from Canada

Air/Water Temp: 82/80
Wind: 15 Knots

Hi friends,

Today we welcomed Jesse and Jessica from Toronto who were on a great road trip through Florida. They stopped in this morning for a few dives on Molasses Reef. We visited Fire Coral Cave where we saw some huge Spadefish and Mega Big Barracuda. We also stopped in at the Winch Hole to check out the old wreckage. All in all a fun day. The visibility was great and we could just start to feel the weather cooling off for the Fall.

Thanks and dive safe,

September 23rd, 2008 Lobster Expedition

Air/Water Temp: 82/83
Wind: 10 Knots

Hi there divers,

We were joined by Randy, Susan, David and Doc for a fun day on the water with some Lobstering on the side. We started out at the Benwood Wreck where we could snorkel and look for Lobsters. We brought up two good sized Lobsters and took a nice tour of the Wreck. We headed in to White Banks after that to check out the bug situation there. David, Rob and Randy tag teamed a bunch of Lobsters but none of them were big enough so we will leave them to be caught another day!

Thanks for a fun day!

September 21st, 2008 The Penny Lane Crew Take 2

Air/Water Temp: 83/81
Wind: 10 Knots

Here we go again with our friends Mike, Brooks, Tammy and Melissa from Georgia. Today is the best weather of the three days so we decided to head for Pickles Reef. We stopped a t Snapper Ledge first and checked out the big schools of Snapper and Grunts that always congregate there. Our next dive was also on Pickles reef and there were lots of large Parrotfish munching on the coral. It was a beautiful day on the reef!

Thanks for the great company over the past few days! We hope to have you aboard Pleasure Diver again soon!

September 20th, 2008 The Penny Lane Crew

Air/Water Temp: 84/81
Wind:12-15 Knots

Greetings Pleasure Bloggers,

The Georgia Crew was back today for some more Reef exploring! Mike, Brooks, Melissa and Tammy headed out with us on a 10AM charter and we started on The Benwood Wreck. WE had the whole wreck to ourselves which is soooooo nice compared to having 30 people on it! You can tell I'm a spoiled diver but can you blame me?! Anyways we found some interesting creatures including a Flamenco Tongue Snail and a furry worm called a Bearded Fireworm. We then headed to French Reef to find some swim-throughs. The Snappers were all schooling in the caves and there were some big Barracuda hanging around under the boat. They look scary but I think that they just like the shade.

The crew is coming back for more tomorrow, see you then!

September 19th, 2008 It's a full boat!

Air/Water Temp: 81/83
Wind: 15-18 Knots (Very Blowy)

Hello Pleasure Divers,

We had a full boat today which is always fun! Brooks, Mike, Melissa and Tammy from Georgia joined Roger and Brenda from England to make our dive squad today and we headed out into the wind to check out Molasses Reef. It was a bit choppy out there but under that water it was amazing! We dove at Permit Ledge and Eagle Ray Ravine where we found a Nurse Shark, saw a huge Green Moray, checked out the big caves full of Silversides and found a little Damselfish living in a conch shell. It was gorgeous on Molasses today.

Thanks to everyone for joining us today and sharing the reef with us.

September 18th, 2008 Spiegel Grove Double Dip

Air/Water Temp: 81/84
Wind: 10-15 Knots

Hi friends,

This afternoon we were joined by Barry and Jack for a Double Dip on the Spiegel Grove. We had the place to ourselves and the current had taken the day off so we had great conditions! The first dive we explored the aft crane area and then explored the bow and the bridge on dive #2. There were some big Hogfish and tons of Snappers hanging around the wreck. We swam through some of the passageways and good some good pictures!

We had a great time today and we always love diving the Grove so come and join us!

September 15th, 2008 Underwater Hunters!

Air/Water Temp: 82/83 (Starting to cool off)
Wind: Zippo!!!

Hi there Pleasure Divers,

We had an amazing day out on the water! There wasn't any wind at all and we had sun all day. Today was undersea hunter day on Pleasure Diver but mostly we just wanted to dive. Tavis, Mike, Dwayne and Catherine joined us today for three dives. We started our day on the Bibb. The Duane was crowded because of how beautiful it was so we took the Bibb all to ourselves. There were some big fish down there to hunt but they seemed to have played that game before and outsmarted the hunters. There is a reason the fish have lived that long! We then headed for the shallower dives at Pickles Reef. We saw some huge Rays and a huge school of Snappers with some Nurse Sharks swimming around them. All in all it was an awesome day. We didn't spear anything but everyone was happy with the great day of diving.

Thanks for joining us for one of the best Summer Days!

Air/Water Temp: 82/82 (Cooling off a little)

Wind: 13-15 Knots (A little breezy)

Hi friends,
This is our friend Lisa from NJ. She and Brett dove with us back in July and hopefully again soon!

I'm so happy to be back with good news! We went diving today........and it was gorgeous!!! We took Garry and his son Kalan out for our first diving excursion in weeks. The visibility was awesome and there wasn't any current at all. A great way to get back into the swing of things! We dove Molasses Reef today. One dive at the south end where the big Permits and Groupers were out and another dive at Eagle Ray Ravine. We saw a Nurse Shark there and tons of Lobsters!

That being said it is Game On folks! Come on down and dive with us. Also our Holiday bookings are starting to roll in so if you plan on coming down around the December Holidays give us a call to reserve your trip on Pleasure Diver!

Hope to see everyone soon!

What do Hurricanes and Spiderwebs have in common?

Hi friends,

I wanted to show you what it looks like here in the Marina when a storm is coming through. It's a big Spiderweb! It looks like IKE is going to pass well South of us and we are prepared to ride it out here at the Marina Del Mar. We moved over to a slip by Coconuts that is a bit safer for us and the boat and we should just see some big wind over the next 24 hours.

Once this blows through we expect to see everyone back down here for some diving. the big crowds are gone this time of year so we should have the reefs mostly to ourselves! I love that!

Well send some good vibes our way and we will see you all soon on Pleasure Diver!
